FREMONT, CA – Power Knot LLC, the market leader for on-site organic waste management solutions, congratulates Emirates Flight Catering (EKFC) on being named Best Food Waste Initiative of the Year 2026 at the Middle East Waste & Recycling (MEWAR) Awards 2026. The award recognizes EKFC’s use of the LFC biodigester to divert food waste from landfill across its Dubai operations.
The LFC biodigester uses beneficial microorganisms to convert food waste into grey water within 24 hours. Every unit connects to the LFC Cloud for real-time data on waste processed and environmental impact. Using the LFC biodigester instead of sending waste to the landfill significantly reduces EKFC’s carbon foot print, improves operations, enhances security, and saves money. These environmental sustainability benefits were recognised by the judges and resulted in the award.
EKFC piloted an LFC-50 biodigester in 2024, starting with vegetable waste only. In December 2025, it commissioned a custom-built LFC-3000 biodigester with a Power Knot Automated Feed System that lifts, shreds, and conveys food waste into the chamber. The LFC-50 biodigester has since moved to a second EKFC site, and a second LFC-3000 biodigester is now ordered for EKFC’s Food Point facility.
EKFC shared this journey at its Sustainability Expo 2026, where it also presented Power Knot with an Appreciation Award.
