Coral Beach Resort Sharjah has strengthened its commitment to responsible hospitality with the installation of an LFC biodigester, becoming the first hotel in Sharjah to commission and operate the technology.
The LFC biodigester processes organic kitchen waste directly on site, helping the resort reduce the amount of food waste requiring storage, transportation, and off-site disposal.
The initiative supports the Sharjah Commerce & Tourism Development Authority’s Food Waste Carbon Pilot Implementation and its broader efforts to reduce food waste and the environmental impact of the hospitality sector.

About Coral Beach Resort Sharjah
Coral Beach Resort Sharjah is a four-star beachfront hotel overlooking the Arabian Gulf in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates. The resort features four restaurants, swimming pools, a spa and fitness centre, recreational facilities, tennis courts, and water sports, providing a full-service destination for leisure and family travelers.
Environmental responsibility is an important part of the resort’s operations. Coral Beach Resort Sharjah has introduced initiatives designed to conserve resources and reduce waste, including the Northern Emirates’ first on-site water bottling plant, the Coralganic organic garden, and programs focused on energy and water conservation.
These efforts were recognized with the Sustain Sharjah Award at the Sharjah International Travel & Tourism Forum Awards 2025, reflecting the resort’s sustainability initiatives across six areas: climate, waste, culture, water, nature, and education.
Taking Food Waste Management On Site
Commercial kitchens generate food waste every day through food preparation, buffet operations, and uneaten food. Traditionally, this waste must be collected, stored, and transported away from the property for disposal or processing.
Coral Beach Resort Sharjah is taking a different approach.

With the LFC biodigester, organic kitchen waste can be processed where it is generated. The system uses a natural aerobic digestion process to break down food waste, helping reduce the volume of organic material that needs to leave the property.
By moving food waste processing on site, the resort can simplify waste handling while reducing its dependence on conventional collection and disposal methods.

Turning Sustainability Commitments into Action
For Coral Beach Resort Sharjah, installing the LFC-300 biodigester represents another practical step in a sustainability program already integrated throughout the property.
“I am proud that Coral Beach Resort Sharjah is the first hotel in Sharjah to commission and operate this innovative biodigester technology,” said Iftikhar Hamdani, area general manager of Coral Beach Resort Sharjah.
“This is more than the installation of new equipment; it is the successful delivery of a practical sustainability solution that is already making a measurable difference. Sustainability is embedded in the way we operate, and we remain committed to investing in technologies that reduce our environmental footprint while creating lasting value for our guests, our community and future generations.”

The installation also contributes to a wider effort to address food waste across Sharjah’s hospitality industry.
Through the Sharjah Commerce & Tourism Development Authority’s Food Waste Carbon Pilot Implementation, participating hospitality organizations are taking practical steps to reduce food waste and its associated environmental impact.
By processing food waste directly at the resort, Coral Beach Resort Sharjah demonstrates how hotels can incorporate on-site food waste management into their everyday operations while supporting broader sustainability objectives.
Setting an Example for Sustainable Hospitality
From conserving water and energy to growing produce on site and reducing food waste, Coral Beach Resort Sharjah continues to demonstrate how environmental initiatives can become part of daily hotel operations.
The commissioning of the LFC biodigester adds another component to that strategy, giving the resort a practical way to manage organic kitchen waste at its source.
As hotels throughout the region look for ways to reduce waste and improve operational sustainability, Coral Beach Resort Sharjah provides an example of how technology and hospitality can work together to create measurable change.
